Stintino Virtual Tour
The municipality of Stintino is located in northern Sardinia in the province of Sassari. The main attraction is the beach of “La Pelosa” that overlooks the Asinara Gulf: the beauty of this beach comes from the fine white sand and the turquoise-blue sea. Another beautiful beach is “La Pelosetta” from which you can access a small island that hosts the Pelosa Tower built by the Aragonese in 1578 to defend the coast. In front of these beaches there is the Asinara Island former a penal colony and now a nature reserve.
The village of Stintino was founded in 1885 by Genoese and Sardinian farmers and fishermen who were evicted from Asinara when it was decided to transform it into a penal colony. The country is characterized by two harbours a small (Minori) and one large (Mannu). The economy of the area revolves around the two marinas and the tourism.
